"Development of pioneer "Fishbourne (1927, 136grt) and repeat of "Wooton"(1928, 149grt). Driven by two Gardner diesels (each 120bhp) Contract speed 8 knots with 32 tons dwt. Double ended with four props and four rudders to avoid turning/manoeuvring at confined terminals . Shafts connected through clutches at both ends of each engine. Only 'stern' props engaged, whichever way vessel proceeding, with the leading rudders locked and props running free. Existing slipways used at terminals so props and rudders positioned above keel level about 25% of way from each end to prevent damage".
149 grt.
